Our Executive Director

Susan Swick, MD, MPH, is a clinical psychiatrist who specializes in pediatric and adolescent behavioral health. She was selected after a national search to serve as Ohana’s executive director due to her expertise in evidence-based and family-centered care and passion for education and innovation. Dr. Swick is the perfect leader to oversee the development of Ohana’s comprehensive services, construction of Ohana, and growth of community partnerships.

Collaborative, Growing Team

When patients and families interact with Ohana’s staff, they can expect compassionate, high-quality, comprehensive care. Our collaborative approach brings together different specialists who work closely with each patient, their loved ones, doctors, and other connected adults. Together, the team helps young people build lifelong skills to reach their goals.

Types of Professionals

To meet the needs of Monterey County, our team includes a variety of professionals who work in different care settings. In addition to our clinical director, staff members include:

• Child psychiatrists — Doctors who attended medical school and post-graduate training to diagnose and treat psychiatric illnesses in youth and young adults. They can prescribe medications, check for other medical conditions that can affect mood, thinking, and behavior, and are usually involved in diagnostic evaluations and ongoing treatment at Ohana
• Advanced practice professionals, such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants — Medical providers with training to prescribe medications and perform other services under the oversight of a doctor
• Therapists — Professionals with master’s or doctoral degrees in psychology or associated fields, as well as additional training in evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
• Family care managers —Professionals with a master's degree in social work or related fields who connect parents with community or Ohana services
• Occupational therapists – Rehabilitation professionals who focus on rebuilding skills or learning new ways to do daily tasks
• Medical assistants — Professionals who support the work of your child’s healthcare team
• Administrative assistants — Office staff who welcome you, schedule appointments, and more
