Physician Ambassador Grant

Who can apply?

You can request funding if you are a member of Montage Health’s medical staff in good standing. This includes independent, private practice, Montage Medical Group, or Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula-based doctors.

Eligible projects

Clinical volunteer work with a 501(c)(3) organization or international nongovernmental organization is eligible for support. You may apply if your volunteer work takes place at:

  • Community Hospital
  • Local organizations, such as RotaCare or RotaPlast
  • In the United States or abroad with organizations such as Doctors Without Borders

Volunteer projects at organizations already receiving support from Montage Health are not eligible.

Award details and requirements

Before you apply, please review the program’s funding details:

  • A limited number of $5,000 grants are available annually
  • Award funds may only be used for medical supplies or direct program expenses. Support for travel expenses, such as hotel fees and meal costs, will be considered in certain circumstances
  • A completed W-9 form is required to process payment, and you will receive a 1099 form for the award amount. (Please speak with your tax advisor for guidance)
  • If you have applied before, you must provide a written outcome report before you are eligible to apply again

Outcome reporting requirements

If you receive funding for your clinical volunteer work, you must:

  • Provide a written outcome report about how the awarded funds were used
  • Submit your outcome report to Bella Hockersmith by email at grants@montagehealth.org
  • Connect with Montage Medical Group about the possibility of presenting findings at Grant Rounds

You may be required to share the results of your work with colleagues during a grand rounds presentation. You may also be featured in a news release and photo shared with local media and posted on Montage Health’s website and social media. We may ask you to present to the Montage Health Foundation Grants Committee, our board, or to donors.

Proposal timeline

As of fall 2024, we have moved to a single deadline application process.

  • Applications are due by December 31 at 11:59 PM for a January award
  • Awardees are then part of the Montage Health Foundation Physician Grantee cohort for the entire year

Please note: Submitting your proposal application does not ensure you will receive funding. There are a limited number of awards available.

Selection and award notification

Montage Health Foundation’s Grants Subcommittee and a member of the foundation’s board select the recipients. If chosen, you will receive a phone call and award letter from Montage Health Foundation.
