Pregnancy and birth
Since 1962, your neighbors have trusted Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula to welcome new babies. The Family Birth Center has delivered generations of local residents and given military families a home away from home on their special day. You’re family to us.
At the Family Birth Center, you can look forward to:
- A personal birth experience
- High-quality health services
- Low nurse-to-patient ratios, meaning attentive care
- Spacious birth and postpartum suites with views of the beautiful Del Monte Forest
‘Best Place to Birth’
When you deliver your little one, you’ll see why readers of Monterey Bay Parent Magazine voted us “Best Place to Birth.” Your friendly hospital team takes time to listen and make you feel at home. You can rely on us for safe, responsive care because we help deliver 1,000 to 1,200 babies each year.
‘Baby-Friendly Hospital’
You and your newborn will get off to the best possible start. That’s why Baby-Friendly USA named Community Hospital a Baby-Friendly Hospital®. This honor means:
- You’ll get support and unbiased information to decide how to feed your baby
- Our trained staff will help you breastfeed if you choose to do so
- Your baby will stay skin-to-skin with you right after birth
- Your baby will stay with you day and night if they’re healthy (or go to the specialty care nursery if they need more medical attention)
- You’ll get training from staff on how to care for your infant
Community Hospital has recognition from the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, a project of the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
